Application Migration/Conversion Based on the application and new platform requirements, Rock Solid Consulting will conduct the migration/conversion using one of the following techniques:
Application Porting - Employed when existing software can run on a new platform with minimal modification, porting involves the following processes: recompiling software on the new platform; regression and parallel application testing; and problem/issue correction.
Application Conversion - Conversion is used when extensive modifications will be required to run the application on a new platform or when an extensive database conversion is required. The conversion process involves identifying areas where software must be modified and/or data must be reformatted, applying software modifications or database changes and extensive application testing.
Application Re-Writing - When the existing software cannot run on the new platform, even with extensive modification, re-writing is required. This process involves collecting and reviewing existing application requirements and design documentation, extracting existing business rules and/or program specifications and re-developing the application for the new system.
